Charles Pachter (b. 1942) is one of the most collected and cherished Canadian artists. His uplifting and patriotic images have earned their place in the nation’s museums and the Canadian art canon.
Completed in 2021, this new series in Pachter’s oeuvre focuses on an entirely new subject for the artist – flowers. Realized in a time of uncertainty and despair, he presents a new narrative on Canadiana that is remarkably optimistic, detailing the diverse flora encountered in his close surroundings.
This vibrant depiction of a single Grand Perfection Tulip is a fantastic example of his distinct aesthetic and technique. Featuring shades of crimson, white and sky blue, Pachter lends his signature (and very Canadian) palette to this new subject, resulting in a bold and spirited composition that is charming and instantly iconic.
Pachter is represented in both public and private collections across Canada and internationally. He has exhibited widely throughout Canada, including at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Portrait Gallery of Canada, the Royal Ontario Museum and the McMichael Gallery. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Pachter holds the prestigious position of Officer of the Order of Canada and is also a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal.
Charles Pachter’s works are widely sought after and are an ideal selection for starting or continuing a collection of Canadian art.
